Established in 2023, Kingston Forge operates from a 19th Century forge building on the National Trust Kingston Lacy estate in Dorset and is run by Dan Salmon, a 19-year-old enterprising local blacksmith who learnt his craft at Kingston Maurward College, Dorchester. Kingston Forge is dedicated to producing high quality handmade metalwork at competitive and affordable prices.
Kingston Forge has succeeded Abbott Street Forge, which was run from the same building for 26 years until the retirement of its owner Giles at the end of July 2023. Dan has worked closely with Giles in the preceding months to ensure a smooth transition to the new business. The Forge is fully equipped with the best blacksmithing tools and uses traditional blacksmithing techniques, including a brick coke fuelled forge. Dan is always happy to discuss any metalwork ideas and projects that you might have in mind.
